Public Diplomacy, Communications and Advocacy

The Directorate is responsible for communicating information on major diplomatic events and policy positions, manages engagements between the Ministry and the media and explains Zimbabwe’s foreign policy to the public. It is also responsible for public diplomacy and advocacy.

    • Prepare weekly briefs for the President and Cabinet;
    • Coordinate, consolidate and strengthen overall communication in the Ministry;
    • Brand building and management;
    • Management of stakeholder relations including media interviews, briefs and press conferences;
    • Implement advocacy and outreach initiatives including public awareness campaigns, exhibitions, road shows, conferences and/or events;
    • Formulate and implement the Ministry Stakeholder Communication Strategy;
    • Formulate and implement the Ministry’s Procedure Manual for the Communication Department;
    • Assess the quality of the Departments’ interface with stakeholders and proffer recommendations for improvement;
    • Monitor local and foreign information and communication platforms and draft a report for briefing to the Executive.
    • Initiate design, production/procurement of promotional materials.
