The Directorate monitors and reports on developments and trends in the global economy. It facilitates the implementation of Zimbabwe’s policy on trade and investment promotion. It coordinates engagement with the Zimbabwe Diaspora and the Diaspora’s participation in national development.
- Coordinate the implementation, monitoring and reviewing of the National Trade Policy and National Export Strategy of Zimbabwe to increase the production and export of Zimbabwe’s goods and services.
- Facilitate the establishment, maintenance and expansion of mutually advantageous foreign trade relations.
- Facilitate and coordinate trade and investment promotion activities.
- Oversee ZIMTRADE operations.
- Facilitate the inflow of investments through negotiating investment promotion and protection treaties.
- Coordinate and facilitate economic cooperation between Zimbabwe and all strategic partners.
- Facilitate Diaspora Investment, Trade, Tourism and Philanthropic work towards the sustainable socio-economic development of Zimbabwe.
- Facilitate the devolution of trade and investment in provinces.
