The Ministry is mandated to formulate and implement policies related to skills development and training and to promote Science, Technology and Innovation in terms of the Manpower Planning and Development Act, the 2nd Science, Technology and Innovation Policy and Statutory Instrument 1 of 2000. The mission is to develop and deliver a knowledgeable and skilled human capital through higher and tertiary education 5.0, science and technology development using a heritage-based philosophy, for the production of quality goods and services.
