Mission

To promote the political and socio-economic interests, image and influence of Zimbabwe in the international community and to protect the interests and safety of Zimbabwean nationals abroad.

The Doctrine

Zimbabwe’s foreign policy is anchored on the six (6) foundational doctrines that influences how the country relates to the international community. These are:

  1. Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo/Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo (A country is Built by its own people)
  2. Chimurenga Chepfungwa/Umvukela wengqondo/Liberation of the Mind
  3. Leaving no one and no place behind
  4. A friend to all and an Enemy to none
  5. Zimbabwe is open for Business
  6. Zimbabwe will ever be a sovereign and independent state

The Ministry identifies with eight (8) strategic pillars that define its functional and operational responsibility. These are:

Overall Functions

  • Spearhead the implementation of Zimbabwe’s foreign policy;
  • Monitor, analyse and advise on foreign policy and international trade matters;
  • Act as a depository of all international agreements;
  • Provide Consular Services to Zimbabweans and foreign nationals;
  • Spearhead Diaspora engagement;
  • Provide Protocol services; and
  • Capacity development to the Ministry, Government departments and other Stakeholders in diplomacy.
